MANAGE.COM RAISES $14.5 MILLION IN OVERSUBSCRIBED SECOND-ROUND VENTURE FUNDING
SAN JOSE, Calif., June 15, 1999 -- Manage.Com, developer of management software for companies doing business on the Internet, has raised more than $14.5 million in a second round of private funding.
Second-round investors include BankAmerica Ventures (lead investor), Goldman Sachs, U.S. Venture Partners, Lucent Venture Partners and JAFCO America Ventures. U.S. Venture Partners was the sole venture investor in Manage.Com's first round of financing, which raised $3.5 million in February 1997.
Jeff Thiemann, Manage.Com president and CEO, said, "This second round of funding, which was significantly oversubscribed, allowed Manage.Com to choose from among the top-tier investment partners in the venture community."
The funds will be used to help launch and establish sales channels for Manage.Com's new FrontLine e.M software, announced last month at the Networld+Interop conference in Las Vegas. The first "extranet-ready" management tool for companies conducting increasing amounts of business electronically, FrontLine e.M manages transactions across firewalls, providing monitoring, control, configuration and diagnostic functions plus a unique "live" connection service to a portal containing management rules for various devices, applications and services.
"The number of enterprises and service providers dependent for their revenue streams on electronic commerce and other web-based business functions is huge and growing rapidly," Thiemann said. "The new investment will help us get the FrontLine product family to these companies quickly by developing new distribution channels and moving into new international locations."
George Rossmann, vice president at BankAmerica Ventures, said, "Manage.Com played a pioneering role in developing the first intranet/extranet management solution that is inexpensive, easy to deploy and responsive to the needs of eCommerce 24 hours a day. The company is establishing itself as the recognized leader in the new and rapidly growing market for eBusiness management."
